XP-Protector Help: Tutorial |
Besides the Control Panels you can also add and delete users in XP Protector. You can also create copies of existing accounts, save accounts to files and import them from these files etc.
In the tree click User Accounts.
In the right side window you will see list of users as well as commands for working with them.
To create new user:
- In the window that appears type a name of the user.
- You can also enter a password.
- Select the type of account (limited user or administrator)
- If you want to apply a predefined set of restrictions to the new account, check the box and select a template to apply.
- Click OK to create the user account.
Working with user accounts:
We have already discussed setting up restrictions and properties of accounts but there are also some other things you can do:
Configure account with wizard - the wizard will guide you step-by-step to define most used restrictions.
Export account to a file so that you can use it later or on another computer.
Import previously exported account, i.e. create a new account or change existing according to settings previously saved to a file.
Clone a user - create identical copy of an user with different name.
Save user restrictions and logon rules as a template.
Apply predefined or custom-created restriction templates to accounts - set all required restrictions in one step.
Note that passwords and file/folder access rights are not exported/imported/cloned.
Tip: Explore the User menu. Some commands are available only there.
